Barnard's Galaxy or NGC6822 is a dwarf irregular galaxy in the constellation Sagittarius. It is one of the Milky Way's satellite galaxies. The object is quite similar to the Small Magellanic Cloud but is located eight times farther away. It has an angular size of half the Moon's disk, but due to its low surface brightness and negative declination, it is difficult to observe from the northern hemisphere.
Above and to the right is the compact but bright planetary nebula NGC6818, also known as the Little Gem.
