Great! I tried to photograph M101 this weekend, but it didn't work out at all. I don't have a motor drive on my EQ2, though. Can you tell me, at what total exposure time does this galaxy start to become visible?

Thank you for the feedback! I initially tried 20 seconds and saw a faint, blurry cloud on the camera screen. I decided to increase the exposure to 25 seconds, which made it noticeably better, but I didn't notice that the stars had started to trail a bit.

Clear. I started to see some hints of the object appearing at 15 seconds, but without tracking, it smears too much, so I didn't even try longer exposures. Looking at your photos, I understand that an hour drive is very useful even with our eq2 and 909 tube? I'm considering getting a simple type drive, but some say it's complete junk. Have you had any experience with such a drive?
