M 53 and NGC 5053

At first glance, NGC 5053 might appear to be an old open cluster, but it is, like M 53, a globular cluster—just one containing noticeably fewer stars. Interestingly, both clusters are located at roughly the same distance from us—about 58,000 light-years.

Total integration: 3 hours 50 minutes.
